Mr. Caudys success can be attributed to how open-source software can lead to scientific breakthroughs. In the software business, all of the software is free and can be downloaded by anyone. The key to making money is to become an expert at using the software and helping others use it. By providing valuable services, you can charge fees and make a living. This is like an online service, but the software itself is free. In the field of genomics and biology, open-source projects are a necessity. Once you publish anything with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), it has to become open source and available to the public because public funds are used. He has maintained his funding for nearly 30 years by interacting with NIH-funded groups and working on the Reactome project, all open-source software funded by NIH. When his funding depleted, he continued to work on Reactome for about eight years before starting his own company.

WHY DID YOU BECOME INVOLVED IN YOUR PROFESSION OR INDUSTRY?

Mr. Caudys work evolved after the Haiti earthquake. He was involved in setting up a knowledge dashboard that helped people in the field connect and obtain the resources they needed, which is a great example of how technology can have a positive impact in the times of crisis.

Mr. Caudys most notable achievements involve making significant contributions to the field of genomics research, particularly in understanding DNA transcription codes and differential gene expression. His work on the principle that makes specific cells become neurons is especially noteworthy. Additionally, he is involved in several crisis projects, including one related to the Gaza Crisis, where he and his team are working on potential solutions.

In five years, Mr. Caudy aims to teach everyone how to become a knowledge domain expert. According to him, its an exciting concept, and as long as we keep learning and expanding our knowledge, we can become experts in our own right. He is an expert in genomics software development, genetics and several other fields. He feels its important to stay ahead of artificial intelligence, which can be dangerous, but he believes there are ways to construct it safely.
